These individuals, often marginalized and overlooked, deserve the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty through education. It is our shared responsibility to create a pathway for them, to unlock their potential and provide the tools for a brighter future.
Before delving into our efforts, it is crucial to understand the challenges faced by these individuals. Many of them grapple with homelessness, financial constraints, and familial issues that disrupt their educational journey. The transient nature of their lives requires a unique and compassionate approach.
HANDS is committed to a holistic approach that goes beyond traditional education. We recognize that their needs extend beyond the classroom, encompassing health, well-being, and life skills. Our programs are designed to address these multifaceted challenges, acknowledging that education is a powerful tool for empowerment and social change.
We have established flexible learning environments that adapt to the irregular schedules and mobility of our target group. Learning centre's in community spaces, shelters, and even mobile units bring education to where it is needed most. By breaking down physical barriers, we ensure that education is accessible to every child and teenager, regardless of their circumstances.
Recognizing that education goes hand-in-hand with overall well-being, we provide holistic support services. Access to healthcare, counselling, and proper nutrition ensures that the individuals we serve are physically and mentally prepared for the educational journey ahead.

Despite significant progress in education in Bangladesh, many challenges remain in girls' education. Girls have higher dropout rates than boys at primary and secondary levels, especially in rural areas. Participation of girls in higher education is also lower than that of boys. Many families give more importance to marriage than education of girls. Boys are given more opportunities for education and girls are given the responsibility of housework and looking after the family. In poor families it can be difficult to afford the education of girls. Sometimes girls are put to work instead of being sent to school. So it is necessary to carry out campaigns to sensitize the public about the importance of girls' education.
