Productive & Resilient Livelihoods

HANDS playing the role of catalyst in the attainment of sustainable economic growth and development of society. We are working for the benefit of the people with numerable social training and activities. Our main tasks are to organize these people, create awareness in them and make them development oriented. We work based on the assessed need and demand of the grass root level people.

What should we do for families

Micro finance: Through micro-finance we are helping out to eradicate poverty in rural area in Bangladesh. Our focus is to develop poor as well as venerable people providing micro-loans without requiring any collateral or mortgage. This small amount of loan or financial supports to the needy people helps to encourage setting up free-businesses. In other way, it is a financial innovation approach to provide loan to rootless or landless people’s door steps opposite to conventional banking system. It is incredible that, without guarantee any bank can allocate or sanction loan to the rootless or vulnerable people.

Created Hope for the Poor: More and more women are being engaged in small-scale business in Bangladesh nowadays. This is largely due to the poverty issue, traditional barriers and lack of opportunities for employment in job markets. A large number of people are at a disadvantage in formal sector employment due to their exclusion from education and skills training, traditional concepts. By providing microcredit, education, skill training, awareness and capacity building programme and motivating them for greater participation in social development and income generation activities we can improve their overall socioeconomic condition.

Housing for the poor : A shelter over the head, food and clothing are the three most important needs of the mankind. Realizing the importance the shelter, we provide housing loan programme to build a modest shelter over their heads. The ownership of a house infuses people with a sense of pride, security and self-respect. It’s also a stepping stone to achieve economic prosperity and improved social status.

In Bangladesh, the percentage of the poorest population is 17.5. These people suffer from chronic hunger and malnutrition, have inadequate shelter, suffer from disease, deprived of education and more vulnerable to overcoming their situation after natural disasters. HAND’s ultra-poor program is aimed at households which are too poor to access the benefits from development interventions such as microfinance and assists them to access through development services. Our program aimed at lifting the ultra-poor into a better economic and social condition. For example, it starts with the allocation of an asset such as cattle or poultry, as well as training on how to raise them. It also includes food or cash support alongside, partly to reduce the need to eat or dealing the asset in a financial crisis. HANDS provides health education and training sessions to reinforce skills and build confidence among those people along with some positive initiatives to improve food security, income sources, housing improvement, school enrolment and social acceptance.

We believe that when women earn and control their earnings, their children are more likely to attend school, their families are healthier, their self-worth improves; and their household incomes grow. We focuses on increasing women’s power and influence by removing barriers to work, enabling decent work, and supporting women’s enterprises in order to help women and girls thrive in the economy. We also design inclusive solutions that meet the needs of vulnerable women where they are.
